Rabbits at No Man's Land of The Wall in Berlin

Berlin 1999

Rabbits are the smaller relatives of the majestic hares. But already their name “cunículus” identifys the most important difference: they dig subterranean passages. Only this way they could attain that strip of earth between the Berlin Walls, attain no man’s land, attain the “strip of death”. Only this way they could inhabit peaceful one of the most martial construction in Europe. There they have been watched and loved by people of both sides. Together with the Wall they disappeared. But their silhouettes spread out over the field of the former checkpoint area Chausseestraße now.
