These images of burnt buildings, broken glass, and melted wires are reminiscent of an event in which beliefs were shattered, trust was betrayed and peaceful existence became uncertain.
On the 14th of February, 2006, a mob of extremist zealots set fire to some of the targeted buildings and vehicles in Lahore to mark their protest against the publication of blasphemous cartoons of the Prophet Mohammad in a Danish newspaper. The religious extremists and Western imperialism in the pursuit of their respective interests have blurred the boundaries to such an extent that it is no longer easy to tell which evil is greater. The global blurring of ideologies and insensitivity to the prevalence of violent images are consuming us in everyday politics.
These nightmarish images are an account of the day that changed my view of the world.
